So, here's a sneak peek at some of the grazing management lingo and terms we explored:

Animal Unit Ratings – LSU, DSE, and AU

These standardised measures are the foundation of grazing management. They guide you in calculating the pasture or forage your livestock need at different stages. The specific term you use depends on your livestock type and location.

Stock Days per Hectare (SDH) or DSE Days per Hectare (DDH)

These metrics provide a comprehensive view of available pasture or forage. It takes into account pasture quality, livestock nutritional requirements, and desired forage utilisation. They empower you to make informed decisions about land management.

Dry Matter

Dry Matter is a critical metric that assesses the dry weight of forage per unit area, giving you insights into pasture quantity. It plays a pivotal role in grazing management, aiding in decisions about stocking rates and grazing rotations. These are just a taste of the terms we explored during the webinar. But there's more! The presentation also explored how the MaiaGrazing platform streamlines this process, ensuring you never have to second-guess your ratings or measurements.
